Fashion Photography is the ‘Art World’s New Rising Star.’ It is an art unto itself. It often reveals visions of significant artistry and sensibility. In this new rising world we have a lens man who brought to his efforts a high degree of social and aesthetic perception. Datta Garud, the fashion photographer from Pune, has redefined the art of fashion photography with his aesthetic sense and a wide vision of turning photography into a vocation rather than just a job or career.
Datta, a person who was always ignited by his inner passion to do something new, stepped into this new world with least knowledge of fashion photography. He was born in a village named Mukhai, Shilarapurin, Pune, a place more known for farming than photography. He lost his father at an early age and had to continue his education at BJS college Pune, an organization that took care of orphans. By the time he completed his tenth grade he didn’t have a single pie in his hand to continue his education. The first thing he did was to find a livelihood to survive. But the passion to do something different from the ordinary made him enroll at the Academy of Fine Arts. Darwin’s theory of ‘Survival of the Fittest’ seems to be true in Datta’s life as he managed to work 18 hours a day along with his studies. In his struggle to make both the ends meet, he had to keep shifting his jobs but the passion for photography which resided in him paved the way in finding his dream job of being a photographer.
Datta Garud finally ended up in perusing his dream that forced him to drop his Fine Arts study, from where he turned out to be a professional fashion photographer. He was the professional photographer for Indian Army for nearly a year which gave him the platform to establish himself as a professional photographer. With the thirst to do more and his vision and goal to cater specifically to fashion photography, he joined Chirag Imagination Designing Studio which molded him into an artisan who could create magic in the images he captured. He expresses his thanks to Mr.Rakesh Rawath the big name in the fashion industry who groomed him to unveil the real meaning of fashion photography. Mr.Rakesh trained him to be a skillful mariner who could create divinity even in the most repulsive images.
Later he moved to Pune to set up his own venture, a fashion studio that created a dais for many new faces in the industry. ‘Art Studio’ the name which reinvented fashion photography in Pune, was Datta’s sweat and toil and it provided a platform for fashion shoot, modeling shoots and product shoot. His career graph went up when he was invited as a guest lecturer at Abhinav College Pune and Sai College Pune where he conducted a seminar on photography. This experience motivated him to start a photography class at his studio which had a wide response.
Datta has a lot of projects to his credit including a fashion photography calendar that brings out his caliber as a fashion photographer. His upcoming projects include the launch of the biggest fashion studio at Pune and the biggest fashion photography calendar exhibition which will be a footstep for the armatures to follow. If asked about his greatest ambition he would say that he aspires to be ranked among the 10 best fashion photographers in India. Indeed he would be one day because he believes that it’s not your degree or your certificates that counts it’s just the passion, commitment and dedication that makes your dreams come true.
