Born and raised in Chennai, Pavalamugi Sundar shares the ropes of her journey with RageNyou, starting from her school life to her college and how she recollects her education and the exposure she obtained from them, though she majored in Engineering. She hysterically comments that destiny has something better preserved for her. As she graduated from college she realised her sole interest was to do something out of the box and always add that extra pinch of creativity to whatever she does. Pavalamugi, otherwise known as Pavu, was quite sure that she wouldn’t be that one sheep which follows the rest in the flock.
The idea of getting into the field of accessories began while exploring her areas of interests; yet the jewellery designer never fantasized of dealing with the rather precious jeweleries on the expensive side, like gold or platinum. She gets lightened up seeing accessories, and is never satisfied with her humongous collection of bangles, chains, earrings, anklets and many more. Soon from this strong bond between her and the accessories came up the questions from her close circle, of her being a spendthrift. It is then that she decided to take a step and start designing jewelleries from whatever she knew, learnt and had experienced from various mediums and people.
“Post my graduation, like any other individual I went for a job after which I slowly tried designing on the parallel side, balancing both the work life and my passion. I started with quilling works where I made a couple of jeweleries and fortunately they were sold at good rates, and this initial step of mine was like an energy booster and self motivator”, she says. Slowly from quilling, her attention was drawn to the silk thread accessories and she also realised that the market value for this type of jewellery is high. Making jewellery consumes a lot of time, so as and when she starts, she has to ensure that the output is a bulk. To get this done she also involved her family members, like her aunt and sister, to help her out.
Once her business slowly picked up she started promoting them in her social media pages. The designer is so strong in expanding her creativity to other new jewelleries, establishing this and making it big, she also says “Till now it has only been online sales, this is a field I’ve always wanted to pursue and I’m glad it’s happening now. So along with this flow, I hope to open a boutique soon”.
