Organized by the Opulence Events LLC, International Fashion Week Dubai Season-5 was a magnificent fashion event. The event was held from 20th to 22nd October 2017 at Hotel Sofitel, the Palms Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Once again IFWD was a splendid and successful fashion week, while keeping its concept alive by bringing seasoned fashion designers and startling models from 12 different countries to the UAE. The designers were really impressed with the platform to showcase their latest collection of haute couture, bridals, party wear etc.
This season, the line-up of designers was once again mind-blowing. The world’s top brand, Agatha Ruiz de La Prada from Spain, closed the show. Mona Al Mansoori, another famous and elegant haute-couture and bridal designer from the Emirates, surprised the audience with her mesmerizing collections.
Another key feature of the show was that, a tech designer, Diana from Poland, was introduced for the first time in UAE, who dazzled the ramp with her amazing tech collections. The event also witnessed the launch of the brand Bianco Mimosa from Malaysia, owned by Dato Ida Suaraya Bint Mustapha.
International Fashion Week Dubai Season 5 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Sohail Al Zarooni.

The season featured the launch of the International Fashion Awards for numerous areas in the field of fashion. The following awards were given:
- The Best Fashion Design Program 2017- American University of Emirates, Dubai.
- Best Fashion Tech Designer 2017- Diana Walkiewicz, Poland.
- Best Fashion Designer 2017-International- Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Spain.
- Best Fashion Designer 2017- Ali Asad, Syria.
- Best Fashion Designer 2017- Emirati- Mona Al Mansouri, UAE.
- Best Fashion Media 2017- Elle Arabia, UAE.
- Best Fashion Entrepreneur 2017- Derek Khan, UAE.
- Best Fashion Icon 2017- Mohammed H Alshalan, UAE.
- Best Fashion Journalist 2017- Nada Kabbani, UAE.
- Best Fashion Model 2017- EmiliiaDobreva, Kosova.
- Young Designers competition 1st Pize- DaliahBakhurji, UAE.
- Young Designers competition 2nd Prize- Sirin Al Baghada, UAE.
- Best Young Fashion Designer 2017- RezvaneshSaffari, UAE.
- Best Fashion Design Educationalist 2017- ShlaghaAgarwal, UAE.
Young aspiring designers from American University of Emirates took part in the Young Designers competition, and showcased their works on the ramp and two of them won the awards for the best designers. From now on, these awards will be a regular segment of IFWD.
The event also involved hands on workshop on illustration. The event also featured Runway models such as Miss Kosovo, Miss USSR, Miss Poland and several other beautiful beauty pageant crown holders.
Day 1 of the fashion show began with the inauguration by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Sohail Al Zarooni
The participant designers on day 1 were as follows:
a. Opening show- Dato Ida Suraya Mustapha from Malaysia, who launched her brand Bianco Mimosa for the first time in Dubai, set the ramp on fire with her elegant Haute Couture dresses themed A Tale of Tongkang Yard.
b. Second Show- Tanya Costa from Bulgaria and Hourik Millinary from Armenia displayed their beautiful handmade hats and head pieces.
c. Third show- Ali Assad from Syria, whose brand is Viabesco, showcased party wear looks on the ramp.
d. Fourth show- Niharika Mumtaz from Bangladesh showcased her elegant jewelery brand 1972 Couture Jewelery from Niharika.
e. Fifth show- Julie Patir from India showcased her amazing bridal collections on the ramp.
f. Sixth show- Diana Walkiewicz from Poland, one of the most talented tech designers, showcased her fashion tech. collections on the ramp. She is the owner of brand DeVu.
g. Final Show- Maya Tavadze from Georgia, with her talented kid models, closed the show with a stunning display of kids-wear collection.
Day 2 – Mr. Yakoob from Dubai customs & Her Excellency Dr. Rasha Al Faidi were the Guests of Honour. The participant designers on day 2 were as follows:
a. Opening show- Mona Al Mansoori, one of the best designers of the UAE, who showcased her mesmerizing Haute couture and Bridal collection on the ramp.
b. Second show- Brand Dache showcased her party wear collections based on a theme Rangoli, which focuses on Authentic Natural Art.
c. Third Show- 15 young talented student designers, from American University of the Emirates, showcased their brilliant collections on the ramp.
d. Fourth Show- Ibrar Ali Habib from Pakistan showcased his amazing party wear collections.
e. Closing show- Agatha Ruiz De-La Prada, one of the world’s best designers, closed the show with her mesmerizing party wear collections.
A few of the major sponsors for the fashion week were Boudoir club, Crystal Gallery, Kenjen Water and American University of the Emirates.
The show, which was attended by a large number of people from start to end, was a great success and catered to an exclusive audience including royal family, ambassadors, buyers, retailers, trade houses, entrepreneurs, Fashion Design students, Fashion designers, fashionistas and the High-end society, with a broad press and media coverage.
International Fashion week Dubai season 6 is scheduled to take place from 29th to 31st March 2018. A number of reputed international designers and domestic designers along with upcoming designers would be participating in the same. International fashion awards and the young designers’ competition would be an essential feature of the event.
