Attire is something that has always fascinated her; it is an element that decorates ones skin in the most desirable of ways. Whenever she stepped into a boutique or a store, the dire need for a specific design kept persisting within her mind. “Though shops were flooded with clothes, there has not been a single time that I found dresses of my standard. Having taken a course in Fashion at the University of Technology and Humanities, was absolutely a random choice, and a mere coincidence between my fascination and the so called fate”, says Diana Walkiewicz.
Later on, as her interests kept spiralling in this field, she decided to present her designs in regional fairs and other exhibitions. The shows were favourable as it helped her in not just acquiring a market but at the same time spurred the talent inside her; she further goes on to say, “It was through my early event that I started doing more such events and meeting new people and fresh talents. So every time I sew a design for my customer, I would take back with me a lesson; it could be anything like their requirement, the trend etc. Henceforth all these baby steps enacted in the creation of my brand called the ‘DeVu’”.
DeVu has taken up several projects and have been showcased in different parts of the world, for instance the Miss World, International Fashion Week- Dubai, Miss Supranational and also the red dress of the Top 10 that was recognized as one of her best beauty shows. Creating this brand took a whole huge battle as it was purely from one’s own experience. There was no teacher who led her forward, she was her own mentor; she made numerous mistakes and managed to learn from them, kept thriving all her way refusing to give up on the battle and finally arrived at her own brand ‘DeVu’.
She adds a final note saying, “My career is a primary factor that has consumed the most of me. Fashion for me is not just the version for attires; they are perhaps the ability to demonstrate ideas. And designing is something that will dwell within me forever and in turn I would definitely ensure to incorporate fresh ideas in every piece of art that I produce”.
