“It’s been three years since I got into this profession and it’s been a wonderful journey until now”, says Ashwini. A, who’s otherwise known as Dolly. The 24-year-old hails from the South Madras and has completed her education in Business administration from the institute of Loyola. Well as the name suggests, Ashwini has always dolled herself up since childhood and that was one of the main reasons why her parents named her ‘Dolly’.
It was during her early childhood days that she realised her love for Fashion and as she grew up she strived her way to the industry and has successfully established herself as a model. She has made use of every opportunity that has come her way, starting from college culturals to the prominent Fashion shows. The model has done several ramps, photo shoots, print, catalogue and ad shoots.
It was post her under graduation that she took up modelling, though it took a little while to convince her family in the initial stages; she managed to gain their support and grow in the desired field. The model goes on to say, “Challenges are a part of life, and it’s not just in this field, in any field that you belong you will face numerous challenges, and it all depends on how you beat them and face the world”.
However, the model hasn’t faced much difficulties, as she feels the surrounding was more like a family, wherein her co-Chennai models have always made it easier for her helping her in every possible way since the time she entered this field.
In terms of Fashion, Ashwini feels that it is not something to be copied, instead it is something to be created in terms of one’s comfort, colour and style. Nevertheless, the model keeps track of the trends and also ensures to try all new outfits, be it Indian or Western. She is also comfortable in creating her own style; being positive and confident about what you wear is key element in Fashion. Some of her favourites are palazzo pants or jeans with a casual top for an every day wear and for occasions or events it would be an Indo-western crop top and skirt.
The model ends the interview with a message, “I have been brought up learning and ingraining moral values, love and respect and most of all being a down to earth person. The profession has also made me realise that kindness, courage and hard work is what it takes to achieve your goals. The profession has taught me a lot from the scratch and I look forward to learning more in the days to come”.
