Glimpses of the interview-
Q. How did you enter the field of fashion designing?
A. Manish Malhotra was always my idol and I always had passion for fashion. I did my Fashion Designing course, began being a part of photoshoots, and ultimately I set up my boutique. This led me to being part of various shows.
Q. What was your first show like?
A. I was quite confident, to be honest. It was all new for me which made me awestruck, but I was confident. It was a new challenge for me but I’m glad that I got an awesome media coverage for it.
Q. What is the message you imply with each of your designs?
A. I want to retain the Indian culture in each of my designs. I incorporate modernity into my designs, but also add the Indian touch to it. Someday, I hope I will be able to put out this message through my designs in an International level.
Q. What is the biggest challenge you face?
A. The audience is a big challenge, because people fail to realize the value of wearing garments of a good designer. Fashion is our status, and wearing garments of a good designer is something of a high value. Every garment you wear is a result of hard work of a designer, and his/her signature; I want people to understand that so that they choose their garments wisely, preferably from a reputed designer.
Q. What is your success mantra?
A. I am cool and confident…and that’s all that matters! I am confident about my models and also my work.
Q. What will be your advice for upcoming fashion designers?
A. Do not waste time! Follow your heart! Trust yourself!
Q. Your ambition?
A. I want to be as successful as Manish Malhotra; I want to reach his level.
Kingshuk has been a part of many high-end events like the recently held Taj Fashion Week, where he was specially honoured for his hard work and talent. The world of fashion will be incomplete without this innovative designer, who is always ready to take up new challenges. Wishing him to be the next Manish Malhotra, because only fashion matters at the end of the day for this handsome young designer.
